Getting a house as a gift would be an amazing thing

Posted by christmas - November 30th, 2008

Getting a house as a gift would be an amazing thing. It could be really good, but also really bad. It all depends on the situation. You may feel that the house was bought for you out of pity making it very hard to be able to enjoy such a gift.

If it was bought for you by someone you don’t like or don’t get along with, then that too could affect the enjoyment of the gift. For example, if you knew someone for a long time, but didn’t really get along, and had a very competitive relationship with them, you could see the gift as offensive.

But, if the gift was given by a loved one, then it would be much easier to appreciate, enjoy, and accept the gift. There are other factors that could come into play though.

Like location, and quality, and even quantity. For example, you are newly married and plan on having at least three children and a dog, and a family member/friend buys you a two bedroom house with a small backyard. Read More »

Last year was my first Christmas in our new home

Posted by christmas - November 30th, 2008

Last year was my first Christmas in our new home. I always had a beautiful tree in our rental house so now with my gorgeous fireplace and open floor plan, I just knew my tree would look great.

I lugged the platform for the tree in from the shed in the freezing cold on Black Friday. Sure I had been up since 5 for all the shopping deals but I always put my tree up then. I tried three different places for the tree.

But my nice tree was so small in my new huge living room. I called my sister frantically. She lives 10 minutes away and said I could have her extra tree! Off I went. Her tree was a gorgeous artificial Spruce. It was so full and over 7 feet tall. Read More »

I would love to have a house for a Christmas gift

Posted by christmas - November 29th, 2008

I would love to have a house for a Christmas gift. It would be much better than the broken down old trailer I live in. Yes, there are poor people in America and I happen to be one of them.

I suppose the crew of Extreme Makeover Home Edition or Habitat for Humanity would be the likely builder of this home as our relative who do have money would never be convinced to make such a gift as they keep their money for themselves.

I would be happy with a nice three or four bedroom home with an actual basement. It should also have a living room and separate kitchen/dining area which comes standard with most homes.

However, if I could convince someone to build me a nice house it would have a brick or stone appearance with at least one tower like a Victorian home. Read More »

Gift ideas for a college girl

Posted by christmas - November 29th, 2008

Last Christmas was very special for me and my family. We had the birth of my niece Rhianna a few weeks prior as well as my return home from college for the first time all year.

I choose a school that was within the state but four hours from home.

From my mother I received a brand new digital camera to take pictures of my new college town and dorm. My old camera was from when digital cameras were still fairly new and was not up with the new technology anymore.

She got it a cute color, pink, my favorite. From my brother and sister in law I got twin XL bedding for my new dorm bed. The sheets were in a polka dot pattern and flannel, perfect for the cold winter weather we experience where I live. Read More »

Last Christmas I got a Wii and some games for it

Posted by christmas - November 29th, 2008

Last Christmas I got a Wii and some games for it.

I got Super Mario Galaxy, Wii Sports, Wii Play, and some other games that I can’t remember right now.

I also got some stuff for my apartment.

It was funny how I got my Wii.

My brother had actually bought it earlier in the year for himself, but because of his gaming preferences, he got bored with it. He then sold it to my mom, who gave it to me for Christmas. Read More »

Decorating for Christmas means spending a lot of time with family

Posted by christmas - November 28th, 2008

For me, decorating for Christmas means spending a lot of time with family. We all get together and spend a night at each house just decorating and getting the holiday feeling in everything.

We always buy a live tree, so we can plant it in the yard after Christmas is over. All of our ornaments and a good amount of our decorations have been passed down from family for generations.

I like the Holiday Stickers that are kind of plastic and are restickable made to be stuck on windows.

And we get Walmart brand lights for the tree and around the house, I like the ones that are just green and red. I’m also a big fan of home-made Christmas decorations. Read More »

I personally use rope Christmas lights

Posted by christmas - November 28th, 2008

On Christmas I like to set up a small tree and decorate it with little tiny ornaments. That way I feel like a giant. The giant feeling then translates an even larger joy and happiness for the holiday season.

As for lighting I personally use rope Christmas lights because they are easier to maintain and also you don’t have to mess with any broken bulbs. Funny Santa decorations are always a must.

For instance I own a Santa that wears sunglasses and plays guitar to Jingle Bell Rock. I scared my dad and his friend one time with it. It was a very funny moment. I suppose the tree will always be my favorite part. Read More »

My central Christmas decoration rests on the mantle

Posted by christmas - November 27th, 2008

I love preparing for Christmas. It’s always been a Thanksgiving tradition. After the dishes are done, we break out the ornaments and other decorations.

I don’t buy new decorations, since I have so much great stuff from my childhood and gifts that I don’t need to supplement with newer items often.

I have painted candles and candle holders scattered around that were my Grandmother’s (she used to make them). They sit on delicate snowflake doilies my Mother made.

Most of my ornaments came from my childhood Christmas tree, since my Mother doesn’t decorate anymore (holidays are always at my house, since I’m the best cook and have the small children). Read More »

Christmas gifts for 25 years old woman

Posted by christmas - November 27th, 2008

My age is twenty-five. I am female. Last Christmas I received several gifts that I loved. The best gift I received was from my husband. We always try to out gift each-other.

You know, get the best thing we can think of. I am a musician and I play several instruments, all of which I own. I slowly throughout my life have collected a few more, learned more.

I also have a list of dreams of new instruments I’d like to learn how to play. My husband knew what was next on that list and bought me a violin last Christmas. It is absolutely beautiful and terribly hard to play!

I’m still working at it and will be for many years. Here are a few other things I received: A subscription to American Artist Watercolor Magazine, which is my favorite magazine ever! Read More »
