Picture Game on Christmas

Posted by christmas - December 10th, 2010

My favorite Christmas game is the picture game. It is a game that has pictures and you have to figure what song the pictures are describing.

For example there would be a picture of a L with a line through it, and the answer would be Noel as the song Noel.

You get as many copies as you like and pass them out to party guest. I was introduced to this game when I was 15 from a teacher.

Play Post Office on Christmas

Posted by christmas - December 8th, 2010

We always played Post Office. I still have fond memories of the game.

It has no real rules, and I think it was designed by my parents mostly for chaos control with a horde of excited children.

Each of us in turn got to be PostMaster, while everyone waited in a circle at their assigned “addresses” (like, at the desk, sitting on the sofa, etc.).

The PostMaster would select a gift from under the tree, read the tag silently to him/herself, and then “deliver” it with fanfare and name announced to the recipient. Read More »

Posted by christmas - December 7th, 2010

My favorite game is “Chris Parent Chris Child”.

It is a game of making the Chris child find out who his or her Chris parent is and do the tasks assigned by the parent.

The tasks can be amusing and it can make the game quite hilarious.

This game is played for a few days till Christmas Eve when the suspense is broken to the child by announcing who the parent is.

After declaring himself or herself as the parent, the Chris parent gives the Chris Child a gift as well. Read More »

Traditional Christmas Game: Find the Christmas Pickle

Posted by christmas - December 5th, 2010

My family has a traditional Christmas game called “Find the Christmas Pickle.”

I’m not sure where or how this game originated (it’s most likely European but I’m not positive) but it plays like this: the host or hostess of the Christmas party clears the room of all potential participants.

Then he or she hides the Christmas pickle (it can be of any size or material but it should be green) in the Christmas tree.

Once the pickle is hidden, the host or hostess calls the players back in to the room and the search for the Christmas pickle begins. Read More »

My Husband and I have Experienced a Christmas Miracle

Posted by christmas - December 4th, 2010

My husband and I have experienced what could be called a Christmas Miracle.

We were married in 1985, when we were both in our early twenties. We debated over the years whether or not to have children; the time just never seemed “right”.

As I entered my thirties, we decided to start a family. We never imagined that we would have any fertility problems, since noone else in our families had experienced infertility.

Month after month after month passed with no luck. After a year, we sought the help of a local infertility specialist. He found that I had
multiple issues and recommended surgery and hormone injections. Read More »

It was Christmas eve and my two children were so excited

Posted by christmas - December 2nd, 2010

It was Christmas eve and my two children were so excited. They were 6 and 7 years old and looking forward to Santa bringing all their presents.

I prepared a buffet that evening for my husband and children so it was a relaxed affair. We tucked into to the food about 7.30pm and watched some television while we ate.

Around 9 pm i put some music on as my daughter liked to dance and it also tired the children out so we could get them to bed in time for Santa Claus to arrive. So we danced and ate the food the atmosphere so merry, by the end of the night my feet were aching but everyone was merry.
