Candy Cane Pass and Rudolph Dash Kids Christmas Games

Posted by christmas - December 6th, 2008

As a kid, I played quite a few games with my family and siblings. Some of my favorites that we played each year were the Candy Cane Pass and Rudolph Dash.

The Candy Cane pass you needed at least 4 candy canes per team and a few extras in case they broke. Each player held 4 candy canes between their fingers and passed them down the line, teammate to teammate, without dropping.

If a person dropped it, they were out. We kept doing this until one person was left.

The other game, Rudolph Dash, all we needed was some Vaseline and we cut out circles from red construction paper. Our mom, or who ever was supposed to be watching us, would have each of us kids put a dab of Vaseline on our nose, and then choose the person to go first.

That kid put the red circle on their nose. Then, we would line up in a straight line and pass the nose down the line. It had to stick on for at least 3 seconds to our nose, and if it fell off before 3 seconds or we forgot to put it on our nose and just passed it on to the next kid, we were out.

Last kid standing always won some cheesy prize. Another favorite game we played was pin the tail on Rudolph. Same concept as pin the tail on the donkey. My mom would make a drawing of Rudolph and hang it on a wall.

We always had a large group of kids at our house, cousins, half cousins, brothers and sisters, friends. At least 15 kids or more. We would play these games on Christmas eve, before going to bed. There was a lot of laughs, and half the time we didn’t even finish the game we were laughing so hard. My mom always gave everyone a prize even if we didn’t win.
