Christmas gifts for a Pagan mom
My family has a slightly non-traditional Christmas, as we are Pagan and actually do our celebration on the Winter Solstice instead. Last year for Yule, my husband took my three-year-old son shopping with him so that our son could pick out a gift for Mama himself.
He was so excited for me to open a gift that he picked out just for me! He helped Daddy choose a gorgeous scented oil lamp for me, made of glass in varying shades of blues and purples. He just knew I would love it when I saw it, and he was right! I use it almost everyday to make our house smell amazing and homey.
He also chose a piece of rose quartz, which is a stone that has meaning for Pagans and others who study stones and crystals. My husband tried to steer him toward other stones and crystals that he knew I liked, but our son insisted that Mama HAD to have the pink one!
Of course I love it and have it displayed on our family altar. Rose quartz is known as a “love” stone, representing unconditional love, romantic love, and love for oneself. It can help open one’s heart to love for others and help increase love for oneself with increased self-esteem and self-confidence. It is also related to fertility, and coincidentally, my husband and I were just then deciding to try for baby number two!
I was really amazed that my sweet little son was so in tune with just what his mama needed and what the crystal spoke to him. I think children are much wiser than we give them credit for. I treasure all the gifts I received last year because so much thought and love went into them, from my husband AND my son.
