Clever ideas about Christmas decoration
In our home on the holidays we use several different types of Christmas decorations. We had purchased a pre lit tree last year and it makes all the difference in the world as far as putting the tree up. It makes life a lot easier.
We use all different types of ornaments, mostly ones bought from different places we have traveled to and ones given by family members, which is tradition in our family, we always buy the Hallmark Ornaments to keep it unified. The family ornaments always have the year and the family member such as mom, dad, godmother, aunt, sister, daughter, god daughter, etc.
We also have a huge collection of Department 56 village pieces, specifically Dickens Village and New England Village. We put out a huge table and put them out; it is very fun to do every year. We even make a body of water to put near the docks and the boats.
We decorate the outside with simple white lights and candles in the windows. We also put out the bronze colored light up reindeer that have motion.
The most important decoration is the train which goes under the Christmas tree. It was my mothers and she left it to my daughter who is 3. We all love to shut off the lights, put on the tree and let the train go around.
We of course put stockings up for each family member on the fireplace, which have all of our names on them, there is even one for the dog. The kitchen usually has the gingerbread house we have all made as a family.
