Getting a house as a gift would be an amazing thing
Getting a house as a gift would be an amazing thing. It could be really good, but also really bad. It all depends on the situation. You may feel that the house was bought for you out of pity making it very hard to be able to enjoy such a gift.
If it was bought for you by someone you don’t like or don’t get along with, then that too could affect the enjoyment of the gift. For example, if you knew someone for a long time, but didn’t really get along, and had a very competitive relationship with them, you could see the gift as offensive.
But, if the gift was given by a loved one, then it would be much easier to appreciate, enjoy, and accept the gift. There are other factors that could come into play though.
Like location, and quality, and even quantity. For example, you are newly married and plan on having at least three children and a dog, and a family member/friend buys you a two bedroom house with a small backyard.
It’s not a big enough house for your plans. Another example would be if you plan on moving out of the city or even country in the near future to pursue better career opportunities, but then someone buys you a house in your current city.
That would be inconvenient for you, but it would be rude, and pretty impossible not to accept it. The person buying the house would have to make sure they have all the information needed before even looking for a house to buy as a gift.
Like location, size, future life goals and expectations, even color and how much work the house needs would come into play. People are very picky about houses. They want the right style and structure to suit their personality and needs, and that can be a hard thing to guess.
Gifts are also often a surprise. Keeping something like a house as a gift a surprise would be a lot of work in its self. It would be very hard to get all the detailed information you need about someone to buy them a house without them knowing you were buying them a house, or even suspecting something at all.
It is a very difficult thing, buying someone a house. There are a lot of questions that come into play before you can do that. But if someone manages to pull it off, and buy the house that is just right, then it can be a huge financial help for anyone, which is a gift all on its own.
