My sister first made this recipe at Christmas about 10 years ago

My sister first made this recipe at Christmas about 10 years ago. It was a big hit with the family and now they expect her to make it every year! Heaven forbid that Judy show up without her famous Stained Glass Window candies!

She always makes several batches and takes them to various family gatherings in cute holiday tins. These would even make a neat gift for someone who doesn’t have dietary limitations.

Needless to say, the kids all love them! Luckily, it is very simple to make, and contains few ingredients. It is inexpensive as well. Here is the recipe, so that maybe you can start a tradition for your family holiday!

A home is a most precious gift

Posted by christmas - December 2nd, 2008

Oh, I would love for someone to give me a house…even more importantly I’d love for someone to just pay my mortgage off so I’d have security, and not have to worry about the greedy mortgage company you deceived us when we took the mortgage.

But unfortunately…they wait till you go to settlement to pull the wool over your eyes. Then as soon as you miss a payment they want to take your home…when you miss two…and days away from missing three…HELP!

A home is a most precious gift…Not quit as important as the gift of salvation bestowed upon those of us who choose Jesus as our Lord and Saviour or our mansion that God has waiting for us in heaven (where the mortgage has already been paid) and a notch lower then my husband, daughter and family. I would love to have a new house for a gift for Christmas

Posted by christmas - December 1st, 2008

I would love to have a new house for a gift for Christmas.

There is no one to gift me such a gift. Well except for God in whom I do pray for such a gift. Every day!

Never a day goes by really that I do not pray for a house. I watch the shows on TV of others who receive a beautiful home and I dream and pray some more, while giving thanks for the blessing for the people on TV. Read More »

Getting a house as a gift would be an amazing thing

Posted by christmas - November 30th, 2008

Getting a house as a gift would be an amazing thing. It could be really good, but also really bad. It all depends on the situation. You may feel that the house was bought for you out of pity making it very hard to be able to enjoy such a gift.

If it was bought for you by someone you don’t like or don’t get along with, then that too could affect the enjoyment of the gift. For example, if you knew someone for a long time, but didn’t really get along, and had a very competitive relationship with them, you could see the gift as offensive.

But, if the gift was given by a loved one, then it would be much easier to appreciate, enjoy, and accept the gift. There are other factors that could come into play though.

Like location, and quality, and even quantity. For example, you are newly married and plan on having at least three children and a dog, and a family member/friend buys you a two bedroom house with a small backyard. Read More »

I use a combination of traditional and modern Christmas decorations

Posted by christmas - November 26th, 2008

I love to decorating the house for Christmas. I love the season, and decorating the house really puts me in the holiday spirit. I use a combination of traditional and modern Christmas decorations.

I love to use pretty green pine garlands on the banister. I have several decorations that I take out and put on surfaces all over the house, such as a contemporary metal Santa and tree.

I have sparkly stars that I like to drape around objects on the walls or underneath the mantle – I vary it each year. I bring out a beautiful crystal bowl that I use once a year for just this purpose: I get fancy glass ornaments and put 3-4 in the bowl, which I use it as a centerpiece on our dining room table. It looks very pretty. Read More »

Decorating my Christmas tree is like a trip down memory lane

Posted by christmas - November 24th, 2008

Decorating my Christmas tree is like a trip down memory lane. Among my decorations are those that I have purchased myself, some which have been given to me by family and friends, and those most special, but unassuming decorations that were made by my child as he grew up.

While there are some ornaments I have purchased merely for their decorative quality, there are those which spoke to the child in me, particularly a Hallmark ornament of a girl gazing out a window in which the silhouette of a sleigh with reindeer can be seen. Read More »

My most useful Christmas decoration is Christmas lights

Posted by christmas - November 20th, 2008

My most useful Christmas decoration is Christmas lights. How useful they are. I hang them on my tree and hang them around all the windows of my apartment so people can see the lights outside. I spent about $50 on them at Wall mart one year, and haven’t needed to replace them as of yet.

I also buy a Christmas tree each year. I buy them my tree from the Boy Scouts each year. I don’t have a very big place, so I buy the smallest tree I can. I spend around $20 for the tree each year.

I buy microwave popcorn, constriction paper, thread and a needle threader if I need one, and a bottle of Elmer’s glue. When I get home, I microwave the popcorn and with my family, thread the popcorn into strings with the needle and thread. Read More »

The floors in my dream house would be wood for sure

Posted by christmas - November 19th, 2008

Oh to receive such a wonderful gift would mean to be truly loved and blessed, If I had to ever even make a guess at who would or could give such a gracious gift , I would only assume it to be someone from outside my own family as I highly doubt it would be in anyone’s budget in my own family, but if I had to make a guess who would if possible give such a thing I would say it would be my mother.

And if there was ever a house that I have dreamed of it would be a something simple a Ranch style or Townhouse design of some sort.

I have always loved the look and feel of the Ranch style, its so practical being only 2 levels and typically the basement being an area that can be refinished into a great room(s) to host gatherings of the family or perfect for kids to play or whatever. Read More »

My parents or my husbands parents are the most likely to buy us a house

Posted by christmas - November 17th, 2008

My parents or my husbands parents are the most likely to buy us a house, unless some lucky family member wins the lottery or wins a Nobel Prize or something like that.

I actually have thought about getting a house as a present.

In my mind, it would be a large blue or white Victorian house with a big wrap-around porch and white shutters and moldings on the outside. I would love a garden out front, with white and yellow tulips.

In the backyard, I would love to have a swimming pool with a small waterfall and a fence on the outside of the property. Read More »

If I was given a house for Christmas

Posted by christmas - November 16th, 2008

I need a house for my 6 children. If I was given a house for Christmas from my husband, I would want at least 4 bedrooms or more.

A nice size backyard.

Wood floors throughout, nice size windows with high ceilings. I would like a kid friendly home. With a family room.

I would prefer the California area. That is family friendly. That would be great. Read More »
