On Christmas I like to set up a small tree and decorate it with little tiny ornaments. That way I feel like a giant. The giant feeling then translates an even larger joy and happiness for the holiday season.
As for lighting I personally use rope Christmas lights because they are easier to maintain and also you don’t have to mess with any broken bulbs. Funny Santa decorations are always a must.
For instance I own a Santa that wears sunglasses and plays guitar to Jingle Bell Rock. I scared my dad and his friend one time with it. It was a very funny moment. I suppose the tree will always be my favorite part. Read More »

I just graduated from college in 2004, so I’ve been building my Christmas decorations for the past few years since I’ve lived on my own. I’ve gone in a different direction than the traditional Christmas tree we had growing up with Colonial Williamsburg ornaments, white lights, and lots of brass and hand-sewn ornaments.
I still use only white lights as it’s what my family and my boyfriend’s family does. I also have quite a few hand-painted glass balls done by my friends and family who are artists (some have paintings of my old house, my boyfriend’s home, and Norwegian nisse, or elves since I was born there). With Christmas being one of my family’s favorite holidays, we decorate a lot. We always start with the outdoor decor. We have an eight foot inflatable snowman and penguin. The penguin has a Merry Christmas green and white striped scarf.
There are lights throughout both blowups so they can been seen as people are driving by the house. We set them up first usually at the upper end of our home. We then hang icicle lights across the front of the house. We have a Santa Stop Here lighted stop sign that sits at the end of our driveway. Read More »

I have four children, so Christmas at my house is very hectic and fun. I buy most of my Christmas decorations but couldn’t give details on brand names because I buy what I need when I need it or during the after Christmas sales. We then incorporate these decorations into the next Christmas.
Since my children are school age some of my favorite decorations come from them. I particularly like the bells they made out of Dixie cups and the Popsicle crosses with their pictures on them. Obviously, we use lights on are tree. Read More »

I like very simple Christmas decoration for my tree. My husband and I have carefully selected ornaments throughout our travels, we have several from Disney world, that we hang on our tree. Each ornament has personal meaning to us.
We do not hang any of the “cheap” ornaments. We also put a string of white lights on the tree as well as just a bit of tinsel for shine. We also try to put an Angel on top instead of a star. WE like to decorate the entire tree, but our cat will often knock down ornaments, so by the time it is time to take the tree down, only the top 1/2 is decorated! Read More »

Every December, early in the month, my husband, three teenage children and myself travel fifteen miles into town to purchase a real evergreen for Christmas. For the past 10 years we have visited the same man at his home where he sells trees for $3.00 per foot. Read More »

Christmas time is my favorite time of the year for decorations. I have for many years used the giant string of lights and placed them along the top of the trim in my living room. My children love it still and now all 5 grandbabies beg for them at the first site of all the decorations.
I also have a village that is placed upon the bar in the kitchen in which I place cotton balls around for a snow like effect. I have several pieces that go to this collection including a church, a town store and many others.
I then place the small sting of lights around it to light it up. It is so beautiful. I also have a collection of glass snowmen that are placed on top of my entertainment center and I also place the cotton around for snow. Read More »
