I am a 74 year old grandmother of seven and mother of four. Naturally, I receive a great many gifts throughout the year but especially at Christmas time. Last year I received over 20 different gifts, but there was one in particular that I cherished the most.
It was from my 4 year old granddaughter Kae. What was so important about this gift? Was it expensive? Was it something I needed? Was it something exquisite and delicate? No, none of those would describe this particular present.
As I said before, it came from my youngest granddaughter, who just turned four this month. I looked at the big mountain of packages that had my name scribbled on the tiny cards attached, and this little envelope just caught my attention.
When I picked it out from among the various boxes and bags, my granddaughter recognized it immediately and starting clapping her fat little hands saying “grandma, that’s mine”. Of course, we all laughed and I carefully proceeded to unwrap my very special envelope. Read More »

It would be a dream come true to get a house for Christmas! The only person that I think who could/would get me that for Christmas is the person whose website I’ve run for the past six years. I know if he could, he would do it for me.
My dream house is an old Tudor style home. I’m thinking three stories and a basement. It would have five bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. I also imagine a formal living room and dining room, as well as a den, family room and a very large eat-in, gourmet kitchen with black and chrome appliances.

Last year was my first Christmas in our new home. I always had a beautiful tree in our rental house so now with my gorgeous fireplace and open floor plan, I just knew my tree would look great.
I lugged the platform for the tree in from the shed in the freezing cold on Black Friday. Sure I had been up since 5 for all the shopping deals but I always put my tree up then. I tried three different places for the tree.
But my nice tree was so small in my new huge living room. I called my sister frantically. She lives 10 minutes away and said I could have her extra tree! Off I went. Her tree was a gorgeous artificial Spruce. It was so full and over 7 feet tall. Read More »

I put up two Christmas Trees in my house. One eight foot tree in formal living room, and a six foot one in the den/kitchen area. Both of the trees are artificial, pre-lit, skinny or pencil trees.
The tree in the formal living room is the more traditional of the two and is decorated with mostly maroon, gold and silver ornaments, with maroon and gold ribbon wrapped around from top to bottom. There are some of the expected glass balls, lots of glittery ornaments in the shapes of stars or angels or snowflakes and this tree has a customary angel on the top of is.
There are also a lot of glass ornaments in the shapes of icicles, and angels and Santa’s. The other tree in the den/kitchen area is smaller and decorated with homemade ornaments and Hallmark Christmas ornaments. Read More »

We use many Christmas decorations but I will describe our living room Christmas decorations. Our living room is decorated at all times in a Western Theme. We had to have a Western Tree. When we decided to do the Western Tree it was about 4 years ago when we first married.
Western Decorations were not easy to come by. Now days we see them in every store. So we have a Christmas tree that is a regular pine tree. Due to allergies in our home we must use an artificial tree.
We use burlap as the skirt on the bottom. We have many western decorations that we have picked up over the years. Cowboy Santa and Reindeer, cowboy boots and hats, guns, and all sorts. Read More »
