I love preparing for Christmas. It’s always been a Thanksgiving tradition. After the dishes are done, we break out the ornaments and other decorations.

I don’t buy new decorations, since I have so much great stuff from my childhood and gifts that I don’t need to supplement with newer items often.

I have painted candles and candle holders scattered around that were my Grandmother’s (she used to make them). They sit on delicate snowflake doilies my Mother made.

I put up two Christmas Trees in my house. One eight foot tree in formal living room, and a six foot one in the den/kitchen area. Both of the trees are artificial, pre-lit, skinny or pencil trees.

The tree in the formal living room is the more traditional of the two and is decorated with mostly maroon, gold and silver ornaments, with maroon and gold ribbon wrapped around from top to bottom. There are some of the expected glass balls, lots of glittery ornaments in the shapes of stars or angels or snowflakes and this tree has a customary angel on the top of is.

With Christmas being one of my family’s favorite holidays, we decorate a lot. We always start with the outdoor decor. We have an eight foot inflatable snowman and penguin. The penguin has a Merry Christmas green and white striped scarf.

There are lights throughout both blowups so they can been seen as people are driving by the house. We set them up first usually at the upper end of our home. I love fiber optic Christmas trees! I started out with a 6ft one in the living room. Then I add about 5 sets of lights. I live in the Southwest, so I add 2 sets of chili pepper lights, one red and one green. I found these at KMART.

I also have a set of icicle lights I hang off the bottom of the tree. For closer to the top I have an angel holding small lights in her hands and her dress is lit up by lights as well.
