On the morning after Thanksgiving, my dad ALWAYS brings out the Christmas tree. I can remember this back as far as possible when I was just a little girl. We usually would get together as a family to then decorate this with the multicolored flashing lights, tinsel, and garland.
We then put on our many many ornaments that included new ones and old ones as old as each child was as well. My family was never a rich family nor did we have a need to have big fancy decorations.
We always bought our decorations from stores like K-Mart, WalMart, and other discount stores. It didn’t matter the brand, as long as it was something that we could enjoy and put together as a family. Read More »

For me, decorating for Christmas means spending a lot of time with family. We all get together and spend a night at each house just decorating and getting the holiday feeling in everything.
We always buy a live tree, so we can plant it in the yard after Christmas is over. All of our ornaments and a good amount of our decorations have been passed down from family for generations.
I like the Holiday Stickers that are kind of plastic and are restickable made to be stuck on windows.
And we get Walmart brand lights for the tree and around the house, I like the ones that are just green and red. I’m also a big fan of home-made Christmas decorations. Read More »

Decorating my Christmas tree is like a trip down memory lane. Among my decorations are those that I have purchased myself, some which have been given to me by family and friends, and those most special, but unassuming decorations that were made by my child as he grew up.
While there are some ornaments I have purchased merely for their decorative quality, there are those which spoke to the child in me, particularly a Hallmark ornament of a girl gazing out a window in which the silhouette of a sleigh with reindeer can be seen. Read More »

I put up two Christmas Trees in my house. One eight foot tree in formal living room, and a six foot one in the den/kitchen area. Both of the trees are artificial, pre-lit, skinny or pencil trees.
The tree in the formal living room is the more traditional of the two and is decorated with mostly maroon, gold and silver ornaments, with maroon and gold ribbon wrapped around from top to bottom. There are some of the expected glass balls, lots of glittery ornaments in the shapes of stars or angels or snowflakes and this tree has a customary angel on the top of is.
There are also a lot of glass ornaments in the shapes of icicles, and angels and Santa’s. The other tree in the den/kitchen area is smaller and decorated with homemade ornaments and Hallmark Christmas ornaments. Read More »

My most useful Christmas decoration is Christmas lights. How useful they are. I hang them on my tree and hang them around all the windows of my apartment so people can see the lights outside. I spent about $50 on them at Wall mart one year, and haven’t needed to replace them as of yet.
I also buy a Christmas tree each year. I buy them my tree from the Boy Scouts each year. I don’t have a very big place, so I buy the smallest tree I can. I spend around $20 for the tree each year.
I buy microwave popcorn, constriction paper, thread and a needle threader if I need one, and a bottle of Elmer’s glue. When I get home, I microwave the popcorn and with my family, thread the popcorn into strings with the needle and thread. Read More »

I love the Christmas season and try to decorate the house indoors and out. Outside we use nothing but small white lights and outline the house and the porch and twine the lights around the columns of the porch.
Our house is pale green with dark green trim so it adds to the seasonal look. We have a lighted green and red holly display that we attach to the patio fence. The patio is just off the porch and between it and the garage so it is easily seen from the street. The porch has a bench on it and a small table.
We usually put a flower pot with artificial poinsettias on the table to add a splash of color. We hang 3 windsocks on the porch – a Santa, a Nutcracker and a reindeer. We have 3 wooden reindeer made from logs that we place in the upper yard near the patio and porch and a sign that reads ‘Reindeer Crossing’. Read More »

Christmas is my favorite time of the year. I love the decorations and how pretty everything looks on the houses and the malls. The season also has this feeling to it of joy and happiness. It’s something that I can not explain but its definitely there.
I am twenty now and no longer believe in Santa Claus but I still get that old childhood feeling when I was younger on Christmas Eve and morning. My favorite Christmas song of old time is Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer sung by Burl Ives.

I have 2 favorite Christmas songs. One is ‘I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day’ which a lot of people know but my other favorite is ‘Old Fashioned Tree’. This one seems to stump everyone.
I always thought that it was the flip side of Gene Autry’s ‘Rudolph, The Red-Nosed Reindeer’ record done way back, I guess, in the early 1940s. Whenever it was made, it was always the one that I wanted played as a little girl and to this day I still know all the words. Read More »

Every December, early in the month, my husband, three teenage children and myself travel fifteen miles into town to purchase a real evergreen for Christmas. For the past 10 years we have visited the same man at his home where he sells trees for $3.00 per foot. Read More »

When I was a little kid, I asked my mom to buy a cross stitch kit of a Christmas stocking. She told me that if I finish it by Christmas, she’ll pay for it, but otherwise, I will need to pay for it. Well, I finished it and hang it up every year. Read More »
