Good Christmas gifts for a mom and wife
Christmas is my favorite holiday. I begin to decorate my home the day after Thanksgiving and shop all year for the perfect gift for family and friends. I am a forty-five year old woman who has been married for twenty-five years.
Through the years my husband has always tried to get me just the right Christmas present. For the first few years I always received something for the home, and longed for a personal gift. Then one year he got the hint from my sister and actually bought me a lovely outfit. I was thrilled.
After a few years of beautiful clothing gifts he tried to come up with something unique again. This time I was surprised with a wonderful diamond necklace. It brought tears to my eyes. Now each year he tries so hard to top those gifts and tries to buy me the latest in gold and diamond jewelry.
I love them all but finally last year had to tell him to stop. He had given me a diamond cross necklace for the second time. I have so much jewelry that he had forgotten. I took the necklace back and traded it for a lovely pair of earrings.
Every time I wear my cross necklace we have to laugh. I love that he is already thinking about this year and knowing that he has to find just the right present and it can’t be jewelry.
My favorite gift of all this past Christmas was the simple mug my son had bought me. He had a very hectic year and didn’t have much money to spend on gifts so he was limited in what he could buy.
I know how hard it was for him to think of an idea and to find the time to buy the perfect one. I use that mug daily at work and think of him often. I know that he learned to give from his dad.
