I just look for Christmas ornaments that I like in the colors that I want

The Christmas after my ex husband and I split up I decided I was going to buy all new Christmas decorations. A new tree and everything.

I had previously just used what people had given me so it was not coordinated in way. I decided I was going to do blue because it was my first Christmas alone essentially and being an Elvis fan the song Blue Christmas was on my mind.

So I decided to buy a new tree and blue decorations. Well I found some other colors to add into that because I couldn’t find much in the way of solid blue so I also got some blue with gold trim and blue with silver trim.

I didn’t want to put anything related to Santa Claus on the tree because I’ve always felt Christmas should be about the birth of Jesus not about Santa Claus. I felt so strongly about it I never even taught my kids about Santa Claus so nothing related to Santa ever gets put on my tree.

My tree is decorated with angels and icicles not the little silver ones that get all over the place. But ornaments that look like blue icicles. Also some crosses and some manger scenes.

I put a Blue angel on top of the tree however this year I’m planning to put a star on the top cause now I’m remarried and my husband now always put a star on top of his tree so I thought we could do that this year and perhaps rotate years between a star and an angel on the top.

I also found some ornaments that were shaped like harps and drums and things that I enjoy. I found these at a dollar store so that was nice to find something I liked really cheap. I really don’t have any particular brand of decoration I use. I just try to find something I like and something that isn’t breakable if at all possible.

I find the glass ornaments break too easily and even though I don’t have small children now I have cats that like to bat at the ones that dangle on the bottom of tree.

But I just look for ornaments that I like in the colors that I want. I also did all blue lights for a while but now have gone back to the multicolored ones. I would never do the plane white or clear lights. I find that just too bland for my taste. I like to see color on the tree.
