It was the first time my husband and I put up Christmas decorations together

Last Christmas was our first Christmas in our first house, so it was the first time my husband and I put up decorations together. We bought a new pre-lit Christmas tree from the FIM store near our home. When we put the tree up, we made a date night of it. It was a wonderful night/weekend and I am looking forward to repeating the traditions with our little girl as she grows up.

My husband and I worked together to get the tree put up and fluffed. It looked so pretty when all the lights came on! We put red beads around the tree and some of the beads were close to the lights, so they just glowed. Since it was the first time we were putting up a tree together, we both had assortments of Christmas ornaments to use.

Some of the ornaments date back to our own childhoods, so we had fun telling the stories about them. Others we had collected before we met, so some of those ornaments had interesting stories and sentimental value.

My husband and I have also developed a tradition of buying Christmas ornaments whenever we take a trip together. Some of our most special moments decorating our tree came when we put those ornaments up because it brought back all of the special memories from our first real vacation together, our honeymoon, and our first anniversary trip.

We decorated the rest of the house with items that I had primarily collected over the years. One special item is a ceramic Santa’s Village that my grandmother made when she owned ceramics shop near Boise, ID.

My parents had used the village for many years and gave it to me when I graduated from college. We also have several other hand made items we use to decorate. Our Christmas tree skirt was made my grandmother and I made both of our Christmas stockings.

Share your Christmas experience, we are impatient to read it :-)
