Last year was my first Christmas in our new home

Last year was my first Christmas in our new home. I always had a beautiful tree in our rental house so now with my gorgeous fireplace and open floor plan, I just knew my tree would look great.

I lugged the platform for the tree in from the shed in the freezing cold on Black Friday. Sure I had been up since 5 for all the shopping deals but I always put my tree up then. I tried three different places for the tree.

But my nice tree was so small in my new huge living room. I called my sister frantically. She lives 10 minutes away and said I could have her extra tree! Off I went. Her tree was a gorgeous artificial Spruce. It was so full and over 7 feet tall.

I put on my favorite Christmas songs and put the tree up. 4 sets of lights later, I was done. I was too tired to even decorate it. The next morning I woke up, put the coffee on and set out to decorate.

When I plugged the lights in, the bottom set had blown a fuse and no longer worked! At this point, there was almost no tree in my house. But I was saved by a big-box store and a pre-lit tree.

That tree went up in about 10 minutes, looked better than every other tree and only cost me about $30. I sure wish I knew how great they were before. So 3 tries really was a charm for my Christmas last season. All that hard work paid off on the holidays when family and friends gathered round and enjoyed the holidays.
