Lyrics White Christmas
My favorite Christmas song is “White Christmas.” I grew up in NY but have lived in TN for 12 years now and have not had a single white Christmas.
I love the snow and have fond memories of sledding and snow man building from my childhood with my father who died when I was 12.
Lyrics White Christmas
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten,
and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
The most familiar version of “White Christmas” is not, however, the one Crosby originally recorded in 1942. He was called back to the Decca studios on March 18, 1947, to re-record “White Christmas” as a result of damage to the 1942 master due to its frequent use.
Every effort was made to reproduce the original Decca recording session, once again backed by the Trotter Orchestra and the Darby Singers. The resulting rerecording is the one that has become most familiar to the public. Crosby himself was dismissive of the achievement, saying later that “a jackdaw with a cleft palate could have sung it successfully.”
