My main Christmas decorations would have to be my manger scene
Christmas time at my house is a big deal. It is when Jesus was born so for Christmas one of my main decorations would have to be my manger scene. We enjoy lighting candles and setting them around the scenery to get the elusion that they are stars.
We hang a star directly above the scene and sprinkle just the right amount of straw all around. I am also a big fan of snowflakes and poinsettias. I like to arrange containers of white, red and pink poinsettias all around my house.
I have beautiful poinsettia garland that lights up that I wind along the top of my staircase banister. My dinnerware has poinsettias on them to match my dinner glasses. In my dining room I have more of an antique look so; I usually decorate this room with silver and gold strands of beads and all different shapes and sizes of white, blue and clear or opaque snowflakes.
Some of my snowflakes are plastic, some are glass, some are paper, some are crocheted and some are even cross-stitched. On occasion I will add a snow covered village here or there. And of course, like most American families I have a Christmas tree, with an angel on top, which I decorate with all different colored lights and homemade ornaments that my children have created over the years.
And yes, in keeping with the spirit of Santa Claus, I too, will have stockings hung by the chimney with care. And last but not least there is my front yard. We have light-up candy canes that outline the sidewalk to the entryway where you will find a smaller Christmas tree all decked out in white for the holiday and a nice wreath made from grape vines and decorated with miniature Christmas items.
And this is how my family and I decorate our home for Christmas.
