On the morning after Thanksgiving my dad ALWAYS brings out the Christmas tree

On the morning after Thanksgiving, my dad ALWAYS brings out the Christmas tree. I can remember this back as far as possible when I was just a little girl. We usually would get together as a family to then decorate this with the multicolored flashing lights, tinsel, and garland.

We then put on our many many ornaments that included new ones and old ones as old as each child was as well. My family was never a rich family nor did we have a need to have big fancy decorations.

We always bought our decorations from stores like K-Mart, WalMart, and other discount stores. It didn’t matter the brand, as long as it was something that we could enjoy and put together as a family.

Because we did not always have a lot of money, sometimes we would only need to spend about $20 for the decorations and that was only if some of the supplies from the past years got broken or in other ways unusable while in storage for the past year. Now that I am on my own…

I want to do some things the same. I want to decorate the tree as a family and make it a fun event. I will continue the tradition as well of displaying all Christmas cards we receive in the mail. I may even look into decorating the outside of the house this year with at least some of the icesicle lights!

I can’t wait until my 7 month old baby is old enough to help us with decorating but I know she will enjoy looking at the lights and opening her presents! I know that my new family does not have much money either but we will still be happy to spend the holiday together and celebrate the true meaning of Christmas with or without “fancy” decorations.
