One decoration I love to do each year for Christmas is our outside lights
I do my own decorations each Christmas, I currently do not put up as many decorations as I used to growing up, but as far as decorations go the most important decoration is of course our Christmas tree, which sadly enough is the same tree every year as it is store bought from K-mart about 3-4 years ago.
The lights we use are all blue, which my wife and son agree look really cool at night, I can’t recall where we got the lights but they are the kind of lights that have the larger bulbs as opposed to the smaller white ones.
One decoration I love to do each year for Christmas is our outside lights on the front porch which consist of 3 8 foot strands of like garland tree stuff, sorry for the lack of terms, its basically garland but made from fake tree material and has the lights all ready pre-strung on it.
The reason I love doing these particular lights is because it gives my son and I a chance to do something really fun together where he gets to pretty much give all his input and ideas of how things should look and how to do it.
For the longest time I had been attaching the outside lights by just coiling them around the outside railing but this past year my son had a really good idea by suggesting using a couple of nylon pull ties, which worked out great and kept the lights in place all winter long.
Some other decorations we like putting up are snowmen (who doesn’t), I guess this tradition kinda started from my one aunt who loves snowmen and every year we would visit here and see all the cool different snowmen she had scattered and set about the house, which then transpired into us as a family putting up snowmen through out the house.
The only other really important decoration for our family is our manger seen which I have been doing since I was a young child, and every time we put it up it brings back great memories of happy times and warm hearts.
As for what is spent on Christmas decorations we have not really bought much the past few years and when we do it might add up to about 50 dollars give or take 10 dollars and this is usually for bulbs (lowes) or nylon ties(Lowes) extension cords (Kmart) or maybe some decorative Christmas themed candles (typically Yankee Candles).
