The ideal house for this Christmas season would be practical and thoughtful

Posted by christmas - November 6th, 2008

The ideal house for this Christmas season would be practical and thoughtful. It is not possible to gain individually when our stepping up is taking away from others in any way shape or form.

My wife and I would like to save and take a small loan for an eco/mini house. These are pre-made from sustainable, natural, non-toxic materials. It would be designed for energy efficiency and conscious living.

We would have one floor with 2 bedrooms, a small kitchen, living area and one bathroom. I would have one extra room attached to the side of the house which would have its own porch and screen entrance. This room would be used for massage, yoga and other applications bringing space to the local community.

The property the house would be on would have plenty of room for small cropping, building a meditation garden and for any other use. The floors and common wood used would be either untreated bamboo or hemp, being more durable, safe, and less harmful on the local ecosystem.

In the backyard I would like a large shed converted to a dog kennel room for my two rescue dogs. One of our dogs is disabled and uses a wheel chair so a ramp would be needed at certain points on the property. Read More »

Jewelry as Christmas Gift

Posted by admin - July 10th, 2003

Where did the tradition of giving gifts at Christmas start?
The custom of giving Christmas gifts has its roots in the first Christmas, when the Wise Men brought gifts to the newborn Jesus. Today’s frenzy of holiday shopping evolved from lore from many cultures - even different religions.

Two dates, two years…should the amount of time you’ve been together affect the kind of gift you buy?
A gift of jewelry after two dates is almost certain to overwhelm the girl you’re seeing. More than expressing generosity, it says “I need to impress whoever I’m with”. Hold off on a purchase of jewelry until your relationship has had time to grow. Instead, try flowers…or a special night out.

There are traditional “guidelines” for wedding anniversaries. But a good rule of thumb when it comes to any gift for that special woman is to choose something she’ll love. You don’t need to go overboard pricewise to impress her, but it’s important to feel confident about quality. And make sure you buy her something SHE wants to wear…not something you think she SHOULD wear. Look at what she already owns for style cues.

The Greatest Gift of All

Posted by christmas - April 10th, 2003

The story goes, there were these three trees, and each had grand aspirations of their own. One had dreams of being used for the greatest of homes, an exquisitely crafted beam supporting the most lavish of residences. Another dreamt of being used by a master shipbuilder, and ferrying kings and queens across distant oceans to places as yet unseen. The third longed to grow into the most majestic of trees in the land, and be gazed upon by all for its beauty and grandeur.

Time passed and the trees became worried. None of their dreams were coming to pass. First the tree that wanted to adorn the most beautiful of homes found itself unwanted and discarded, finally nailed together as a trough for livestock. He was sorely disappointed, until one day Mary and Joseph found a need for that trough, which cradled the baby Jesus.
