My favorite Christmas song is Sleigh Ride. That song epitomizes everything Christmas has come to mean to me and has always meant to me from childhood. It is all about having a great time in winters.
I grew up in New England so the lyrics about cheeks being nice and rosy really hit home. It is always cold in the fall and winter months and I am used to a White Christmas. Didn’t really take many sleigh rides as I lived in the city and not the country, but I did a lot of sledding, which is good enough.
I just know the song from my childhood. During Christmas season we always played Christmas songs in my home. We played everything from Burl Ives to the Temptations and Ella Fitzgerald. I don’t have many funny stories regarding the song, but every time I was outside when I was young and it began snowing, I’d start singing this song at the top of my lungs. Read More »

My favorite Christmas song is “I’ll Be Home for Christmas”. I love this song because it’s about yearning to celebrate the holiday among loved ones and a loving family, even if only in the mind.
Growing up I came from a large and close-knit Italian-American family who all lived near each other in the same little town. We would always spend every holiday together, especially Christmas.
On Christmas Eve we would gather around the Christmas tree and open our gifts together. My parents and I lived in my maternal grandparents’ home because they were elderly and needed care. My parents had many sisters and brothers. They and their children would join us for holiday meals, sitting around the table in the dining room. Read More »

My all time favorite Christmas song is without a doubt Happy Christmas (War is Over) by the late great John Lennon. I know this song from way back, when television was still mostly black and white (at least at was at our house).
I first watched it as a kid. The song came out in the early seventies, so I must have been an early teenager when I first heard it. It made a big impression on me back then, and to this day it still manages to touch a nerve.
Because in all it’s corny simplicity this song says it all, by asking a simple question: what have you done for anybody this year. And to top it all off, it’s a great chant as well.

My favorite Christmas song is definitely “When The Saints Go Marching In”. I enjoy it! I love listening to it even in summer. Here are the lyrics:
We are traveling in the footsteps
Of those whove gone before
But well all be reunited (but if we stand reunited)
On a new and sunlit shore (then a new world is in store)
Oh when the saints go marching in
When the saints go marching in
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in
And when the sun refuse (begins) to shine
And when the sun refuse (begins) to shine
Oh lord I want to be in that number
When the saints go marching in Read More »

Christmas is a joyous time of year filled with celebration and the wonderful sound of Christmas songs. Christmas music and Christmas songs are as much a part of Christmas tradition as the Christmas tree and Christmas lights.
Christmas songs and Christmas music are sung and played all over the world during the Christmas season reminding us of Christmas holidays and traditions gone by.
Christmas songs always have a story to tell whether it be the story of Christ’s birth or stories of fun (Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer), it’s surprising how many Christmas songs and carols we have stored in our memories.

“My favorite Christmas song is “Oh Holy Night” sung by Twila Paris with Aaron Neville coming in a close second. Our church has Worship dancers which my sister was a part of and they put together a dance routine to this song. It was so touching that I cry every time I see them do it or even just hear the song. My favorite part of the dance is when they actually fall on their knees along with the words to the song. Oh Holy Night was written by Placide Clappeau, a French mayor, in 1847. ”
“I first learned this song in elementary school chorus; it gives me Goosebumps every time I hear it. Now this is most favorite Christmas song and we love to sing it all together around the Christmas tree. Read More »

I know this song from my sister. My sister was married to a soldier and he died Iraq war. She was listening to this song during the Christmas season and it just made me sad. She loved him so much.
Lyrics: Merry Christmas Darling
Greeting cards have all been sent
The Christmas rush is through
But I still have one wish to make
A special one for you

Christmas music encompasses a lot of different genres, but still, my all time favorite Christmas song is The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole. Written in July of 1946 by Bob Wells and Mel Torme in a climate that rarely sees snow let alone cold weather at any time, the song has many simple, yet, enduring themes.
The Christmas Song Lyrics
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire,
Jack Frost nipping at your nose,
Yuletide carols being sung by a choir,
And folks dressed up like Eskimos.
