Would I mind if I received a house for Christmas?
Would I mind if I received a house for Christmas? Psh! Is the sky blue? That’s a dream that would be a total miracle for my family and myself! Yes, I’ve dreamed of something like this before, many times. It wouldn’t have to be a Christmas gift though; I would welcome it at any time!
I don’t know anyone who would do this for me. My husband and I have been struggling for 30 years to have some kind of stability. We have four children who are all basically grown now, and we have four grandchildren.
My family and I have been homeless on many occasions as the kids were growing up, so a house is something that we haven’t really experienced a whole lot. We’ve mostly been staying with friends here and there because our rent history is so crazy no one will rent to us.
But despite this fact, our family is still close and grateful for what little we do have. It would definitely be a miracle to have this happen to me because I probably will never have enough money to purchase one myself.
I’m too busy with survival to Live like I really want. If I could choose the type of house that I wanted, and had it built from the ground up I envision it as a “green” foam/dome house. It would be totally off the grid, with lots of acreage, some chickens, a pond or stream with fish in it and a fantastic garden with fruit trees!
The house would have three large bedrooms with large closets and built in shelves, four baths, one office, one large game/exercise room and a loft. It would also have a family room and a dining room with a large see-through fireplace that separates the two rooms.
Then there’s the laundry room with built in shelves and cabinets for storage, and a big kitchen with lots of cabinet space with an island in the middle, a short section for bar stool seating and a breakfast area.
Since the house will be “green” I only want wooden floors or an equivalent to a “green” flooring product. Everything in the house would be made from “green” products, which are sustainable, and eco friendly.
I would like the house to be situated in a grove of trees, at the top of a hill, that is looking down on a magnificent view in the country about an hour and a half outside of the city limits, with mountains nearby / all around. If I were given the house “as is” I wouldn’t be so “greedy” as opposed to the one that I would build myself, and I kid you not when I say that I would build my own house if I could, I’ve already drawn up a lot of house plans.
So the dream has been there for a while. If I were given the house “as is” I would like it have three large bedrooms with large closets and built in shelves, two and a half or three baths, a laundry room, a family room with a fireplace, a dining room and a pretty good-sized kitchen with a breakfast area.
The kitchen doesn’t have to be humongous because it’s the counter and cabinet space that’s a real seller for me. If the house I was given was located somewhere already I would like it to be as close to what I described before. It should be somewhere out and away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and where I could at least have a garden of some sort.
I would prefer wooden floors or perhaps tile over carpet, something eco-friendly. I could have neighbors nearby as long as it was a small community with big fenced yards in between dwellings. I live in Austin, Texas and I love it!
BUT, I would prefer to be somewhere else like Montana. I would love the rugged living and getting back to nature. Then maybe I could concentrate on my artwork and things that have been put on hold for so long. Like you said, it’s just a dream, so I’m dreaming.
It would be a definite dream come true for me. I would never want or ask for anything else ever again if this all became a reality. For my family and I, it would mean a whole new way of Life for us all.
